Hello there!<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I know it's been a while but what a better way to feel inspired to post than with a challenge. Candice Ayala, from CandiceAyala.com and Sewing Portfolios launched her Upcycling challenge earlier this month, encouraging creativity through the use of things that we already have at home or from thrift stores. Well, I used both!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs6OYOLEiOs63JraeveSIVBfkUmsG9p-LvnaH8LkHYIO77PqEx0CsRtJFtY9Jr_nBUcpreN_uF5UJQM6QsKhRlbUeGpcl7iCDh55-9d4Fs_6iks4bLrn7GBC223NKfCmD0wE0x3I3KAojc/s1600/Before.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="522" data-original-width="602" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs6OYOLEiOs63JraeveSIVBfkUmsG9p-LvnaH8LkHYIO77PqEx0CsRtJFtY9Jr_nBUcpreN_uF5UJQM6QsKhRlbUeGpcl7iCDh55-9d4Fs_6iks4bLrn7GBC223NKfCmD0wE0x3I3KAojc/s1600/Before.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have a few pairs of pants that didn't survive a full year being worn by my son and decided to turn them into shorts for my daughter, but of course I wanted to add a little something to make them new and special. I visited a thrift store in Denton and found a hospital gown that was new for $3.00! It had 4 ties and nice details in the sleeves and neck, plus lots of fabric to work with.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDQmPhOdHtAHGQeXLwk-RB9bj__wT6-XRaW1TGxHQtrvS59dNhdVYvX3QGDqm_HNLGc4D6To1hQIETARmwm7diX0IhE3AZWFAU4NP183MzHES1kW-QlG8sucofu7HBYzeTfg4nFR1Zopy0/s1600/Details-full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="433" data-original-width="650" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDQmPhOdHtAHGQeXLwk-RB9bj__wT6-XRaW1TGxHQtrvS59dNhdVYvX3QGDqm_HNLGc4D6To1hQIETARmwm7diX0IhE3AZWFAU4NP183MzHES1kW-QlG8sucofu7HBYzeTfg4nFR1Zopy0/s1600/Details-full.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used The Simple Life Pattern Company's Bella pattern and made it in top length. I cut the ties from the gown to the measurements indicated in the pattern instructions and that was fantastic, I didn't have to make ties!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAeKO4yrSz821dFGbmlhJxJhGitvBlsFToePHUl0TMxcq0J9q5WFG5nW89QEdhi8YoH4pS0iRQ7lrclv-WG3oMczpvhnT5CEriuYjLBAfPwYWtb8vkeblL4SyOTaCHdbs_K1t8q3YUZ-W/s1600/After2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="434" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAeKO4yrSz821dFGbmlhJxJhGitvBlsFToePHUl0TMxcq0J9q5WFG5nW89QEdhi8YoH4pS0iRQ7lrclv-WG3oMczpvhnT5CEriuYjLBAfPwYWtb8vkeblL4SyOTaCHdbs_K1t8q3YUZ-W/s1600/After2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also used the sleeve details to add at the hem of the pants that I turned into shorts and used jeans thread to match the rest of the stitching. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ-VMWY87jjrZHO70nZwVo1mrDq8lPkSe9J3L_umN89ked50B39GG9MBcglNFd4zQ89_fyUWAFr3kyN0hWNvihkk8JQ8UlI_iFDzCl5Lq4GKjBz9ZbIeFzsAmyVJ11SA_QbrEYHAYTHlUT/s1600/IMG_2700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="529" data-original-width="639" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ-VMWY87jjrZHO70nZwVo1mrDq8lPkSe9J3L_umN89ked50B39GG9MBcglNFd4zQ89_fyUWAFr3kyN0hWNvihkk8JQ8UlI_iFDzCl5Lq4GKjBz9ZbIeFzsAmyVJ11SA_QbrEYHAYTHlUT/s1600/IMG_2700.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I added some beautiful Art Gallery fabrics I had been hoarding for the skirt portion of the top and the colors coordinated beautifully.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd_bAiOq6yM4XyuHpHB6IgQoau1TWsWqf4zQ6X6fnzghHma1_UdnkCJUXsL4rU8mfUNMTAdacPxAUdCN3Ul1QfKuR8zK1azuXmB1edEmsX2mo4SjgcIJnXsbEtXMezn0Z_Za8ufdyBMOaF/s1600/IMG_2696.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="463" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd_bAiOq6yM4XyuHpHB6IgQoau1TWsWqf4zQ6X6fnzghHma1_UdnkCJUXsL4rU8mfUNMTAdacPxAUdCN3Ul1QfKuR8zK1azuXmB1edEmsX2mo4SjgcIJnXsbEtXMezn0Z_Za8ufdyBMOaF/s1600/IMG_2696.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Overall, I am very satisfied with the results, my daughter couldn't be happier to have pretty clothes to play in, every now and then she asks for shorts and a nice top instead of dresses and this outfit definitely fulfills her demands.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

Hi there!<br />
I am finally getting my sewjo back (well I don't think I ever lost it, I just have so much on my plate it's hard to find time to sew). I was happy to test Tie Dye Diva's latest pattern: The Clementine Dress and Top for Girls, it is such a great pattern!<br />
It comes with two different neckline options, 3 different sleeve styles and a beautiful double hem feature, but the special touch my little model liked the most was the inseam pockets, roomy enough to store little treasures (anyone have a little girl who likes to pick up random leaves and rocks? I do!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGCh1-TCDxlb6823S5PomDbu7_x7gDdp9sN06M-OJwrXhkTV8BQIvB3anT7tHXX2eT2yDaB_SIgKpHx7XrQzbYAKzD48Z9Wy_zZruenvfk2wmK1dX30KmfWOyH4TiRGpD1Mbjv7O3FY3fY/s1600/IMG_1867-Blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="456" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGCh1-TCDxlb6823S5PomDbu7_x7gDdp9sN06M-OJwrXhkTV8BQIvB3anT7tHXX2eT2yDaB_SIgKpHx7XrQzbYAKzD48Z9Wy_zZruenvfk2wmK1dX30KmfWOyH4TiRGpD1Mbjv7O3FY3fY/s1600/IMG_1867-Blog.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This amazing pattern comes in sizes 12 months to 10 years and it is available in PDF format on the Tie Dye Diva's website <a href="https://www.tiedyedivapatterns.com/product/clementine-dress-top-girls-12-months-9-10-years" target="_blank">HERE</a><br />
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.<br />
Love,<br />

<br />
<br />
Hello! I'm so happy to start this week with one of my favorite kind of projects: Baby Gifts. This is one of those projects that can be perfect with or without embroidery and it is just so useful to the new mom!
For a set of three, you will need:<br />
<ul>
<li>One fat quarter of fabric</li>
<li>A pack of Gerber 3-ply pre-folded cloth diapers (<a href="http://<iframe style="width:120px;height:240px;" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=sweetjulia-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=B007VBYVWE&asins=B007VBYVWE&linkId=7e713f37225a7f5f0d585a385e12e6a9&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=true&price_color=333333&title_color=0066c0&bg_color=ffffff"> </iframe>">Like these - Affiliate link)</a></li>
<li>Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies</li>
</ul>
<img alt="" class=" wp-image-442 aligncenter" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0646.jpg" /><br />
<br />
<strong>Step 1:</strong>
Cut one (or three for a set) piece of fabric 15"wide x 5"long.<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-444" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0649.jpg" />
<br />
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>Step 2:</strong>
Fold one long edge of fabric 1/2" to the wrong side and press.<br />
<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-445" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0652.jpg" /><strong> </strong><br />
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>Step 3:</strong>
Place the strip of fabric right sides together with the cloth diaper (the raw edge of accent fabric matching the diaper's short edge), centering the diaper so there is equal amounts of accent fabric on each side (between 1/2" and 3/8"). Pin or secure with clips.<br />
<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-447" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0654.jpg" />
<strong> </strong><br />
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>Step 4:</strong>
Sew along the edge with a 3/8" seam allowance.<br />
<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-448" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0655.jpg" />
<br />
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>Step 5:</strong>
Press the side fabric to the wrong side so it matches de cloth diaper width. Fold over to the right side of the cloth diaper and press. Pin around to sew. Sew around all sides with a 1/8" to 1/4" seam allowance. I use my topstitch foot for even results.<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-453" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0660.jpg" />
<br />
<br />
<img alt="" class="wp-image-452 aligncenter" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0659.jpg" />
<br />
<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter wp-image-454" src="http://www.thesweetjuliacompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_0661.jpg" /><br />
<strong><br /></strong>
<strong>Step 6:</strong>
Enjoy! You have created a beautiful gift with very little fabric. You may add embroidery if you wish, that adds a special touch. I usually make several sets in advance so I am always ready, I made a set for my new nephew, Tyler, with his name and some birth stats embroidered. Just wrap some pretty ribbon around, maybe add a children's book and you are good to go!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Can you believe February is here? I can't either. I received a beautiful valentine's day bundle from Springs Creative fabrics a few weeks back so it was time to put it to good use. The best way to start the month was sewing for my little sweetheart, using Made for Mermaids Annie apron, a free pattern made for their 12 days of Christmas but great for any time of the year really. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you want to make this sweet apron, <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/freeannieapron/" target="_blank">HERE</a> is the link.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My little one loves to help in the kitchen, so now she won't get those pretty dresses dirty, and she will be cooking in style for sure!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What are you sewing this month? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy Sewing!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy New year! It is the first week of 2017, the kiddos are finally getting back to their old routines and for me it's the first morning I've had to myself in weeks. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With Christmas over it's time to get back to normal, but at least in my family we have a few after Christmas traditions that in one way or another celebrate the three wise men visiting baby Jesus. When I was little my family used to celebrate Three Kings Day (Dia de Reyes) on January 6th. My son just got introduced to "La Befana" from Italy at school and since I've heard about her before, I decided to celebrate her arrival on January 6th. La Befana is a good old witch who leaves sweets or a small gift to good children at night, but if the've been bad....they might just get a piece of charcoal instead!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKlCQCb2nVrNqbxOOk98N2uzsOeqW0ir16Qt2X2gwGL5TKePCvQ6JaXPM9ULkVvx0X8NCPDU1WyN6kurIM1qUkwqQlv80n016VwP6WCybrLwAIrzrfES-OxQ0fSfsiuz_p15FT81gsP0kS/s1600/paola-finishedproject.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKlCQCb2nVrNqbxOOk98N2uzsOeqW0ir16Qt2X2gwGL5TKePCvQ6JaXPM9ULkVvx0X8NCPDU1WyN6kurIM1qUkwqQlv80n016VwP6WCybrLwAIrzrfES-OxQ0fSfsiuz_p15FT81gsP0kS/s1600/paola-finishedproject.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since I'm over shopping, this time they'll get a handmade gift. Here are a couple of super easy projects to try: The Cottage Mama's art tote (link <a href="http://thecottagemama.com/2015/01/crayon-art-tote-pattern-tutorial/" target="_blank">HERE</a>) I just replaced the straps with cotton webbing to make it even easier/faster. The small purse is a tutorial and pattern that is available on my blog (link <a href="http://www.sweetjuliaboutique.com/2015/12/color-me-toddler-purse-tutorial.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used Springs Creative Trolls fabric for both projects, I added some coloring books and crayons and got the perfect little gift for my daughter. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So whether you celebrate Three Kings Day, the arrival of La Befana or have your own unique tradition, take the opportunity to create something special for the ones you love.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy Creative year!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I know it's already December and I am late to the party, a lot happening at home but not enough to take away my desire to create for my loved ones. I just took some time to finally create Julia's Christmas dress, well dresses really and a couple of stocking stuffers, wanna see what I made so far?</div>
<br />
1. A Christmas Harper Dress (pattern by Made for Mermaids available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/harper/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">HERE</a>)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is such a classic style, I've made many since the pattern was released but this one is by far my favorite. The fabric is perfection, Pixie Noel by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake Designs, Can you tell my little one loves it?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggz_XrcbAKgIVt_w45fZM4cgNaGjOGF4MwOx3j8KxiGFZcxYh5g17fIrRC48RvckzqLKbWhxtVkmv9JGvnTIaVVZrOVqlYIKS0Ajb0o1sIA9QrqrjtrSqYo_0PkxlShH8OQmPt1xA-csNp/s1600/IMG_0236.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggz_XrcbAKgIVt_w45fZM4cgNaGjOGF4MwOx3j8KxiGFZcxYh5g17fIrRC48RvckzqLKbWhxtVkmv9JGvnTIaVVZrOVqlYIKS0Ajb0o1sIA9QrqrjtrSqYo_0PkxlShH8OQmPt1xA-csNp/s1600/IMG_0236.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
2. A Newly released Holly Dress (pattern by Made for Mermaids available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/holly/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">HERE</a>)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This dress is just so cute and flirty, a combination of boho and classic, it was love at first sight and the perfect pattern to use the very last yardage I had of this fabric, which is now sadly out of print.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Fall is here and in my house it means Football! My husband and I are big football fans so Springs Creative sent me the perfect material for a fun project, a wreath for my door, just to welcome all my football loving friends. I am in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, can you guess what team has taken over my heart? Let the colors tell you!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFqsAN3qaSdQMpmRotgqUp2RdqXW_dEnwkk9AO-oKz5Tgqh57ysnW41hR8PsxVBnJqZpaA8oXh2iBOprpxp3PiYGVhtm0PE-guqGsiQxRRTuWvx_KMdca3Mkppl3470u9KOfhN6VoOHxte/s1600/Paola+3+of+3+logo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFqsAN3qaSdQMpmRotgqUp2RdqXW_dEnwkk9AO-oKz5Tgqh57ysnW41hR8PsxVBnJqZpaA8oXh2iBOprpxp3PiYGVhtm0PE-guqGsiQxRRTuWvx_KMdca3Mkppl3470u9KOfhN6VoOHxte/s1600/Paola+3+of+3+logo.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Want to make a Bandanna wreath for your home? Here's a quick tutorial. The process is super simple, it just takes some patience, straight stitches and pressing to create memory creases to follow and keep our stitching straight.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
For this project I used:<br />
<br />
15 Bandannas<br />
14" Diameter Embroidery Hoop<br />
Coordinating Ribbon (with wire)<br />

The good thing about working with bandannas: All the edges are already finished!<br />
<br />
<b>Step 1</b>: place 2 bandannas right sides together, pin and sew (I used a 1/2" seam allowance). Repeat with the remaining 13, joining the bandanna ends in a long, long piece of fabric. Make sure all your sewing stays on the same side.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 2</b>: Press all the seams open and fold along the super long side, keeping the wrong sides together and creating a seam at the fold. From there, you will create two creases/marks with the iron, approximately 3.5" from each other. I know, you are now thinking, does all this pressing ever ends? Believe me, it does and it helps tremendously!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 3</b>: Take that super duper long piece of fabric and sew along the crease lines, using the crease lines as a guide. See? Told ya those lines had a reason for being! Repeat for second crease line and you are just about done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 4</b>: Use the casing you created to insert your embroidery hoop. Close the hoop and join the open ends by hand with needle and thread. You can now create a pretty bow, glue embellishments to the center and add to your wreath with a piece of ribbon or twine. </div>

I'm so happy I got to finally sew a Halloween costume for my boy, woohoo!!! This is a rare occasion, me sewing for him and him letting me take photos, it was a win-win in the end.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghZ63zlesDIkqsey7Nm4mLH38YA5tBN89acVAphRIWA7qbkc2fuNT_CNIbwzpQQpZ3dKA8jd5KoZH81Uiz_vhjpB_jSkg3HtIRs38JMacseuv6Yy7M7F0Bj2EWLPt1tCAwMxAqPAv_9bZG/s1600/ASHMAIN.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghZ63zlesDIkqsey7Nm4mLH38YA5tBN89acVAphRIWA7qbkc2fuNT_CNIbwzpQQpZ3dKA8jd5KoZH81Uiz_vhjpB_jSkg3HtIRs38JMacseuv6Yy7M7F0Bj2EWLPt1tCAwMxAqPAv_9bZG/s1600/ASHMAIN.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My 6 year old is obsessed, I really mean obsessed with Pokemon so he asked me to make him an Ash Ketchum, the main character, costume. After doing some image research, I finally narrowed down what I needed to make, and what we already had or needed to purchase. We already had a pokeball and Picachu plush toy, so everything else (except for pants and shoes) had to be made to accommodate this demanding, but sweet, boy.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD4wpQzFUIfFfOYIJBI6h4tmSu3hOH9Q6xHTWT5GM0EOqRl4FLldJtqgomcdjxl5Fj3UzxldWk78eEVujofBuhp9R7orMqHto_7pUTkDnuROKn0NaMR6GSeEtboEKvHhC5iyAnq-c0xwov/s1600/IMG_0090.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD4wpQzFUIfFfOYIJBI6h4tmSu3hOH9Q6xHTWT5GM0EOqRl4FLldJtqgomcdjxl5Fj3UzxldWk78eEVujofBuhp9R7orMqHto_7pUTkDnuROKn0NaMR6GSeEtboEKvHhC5iyAnq-c0xwov/s1600/IMG_0090.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="text-align: justify;">For the shirt, I modified Made for Mermaids' Charlie button up shirt, removing the pin tucks and changing up some of the steps so I could add bias trim at the bottom and faux pockets and a 3"x2" tab to add a button. The good thing is, I didn't need all the buttons and buttonholes, just one at the top, secured by the added tab. For the gloves, I traced an existing pair of adult gloves and sewed with 1/4" seam allowance and then cut the fingers off. The green backpack was self drafted, a first but definitely not last for me. The cap was purchased from amazon.com for about $6.00.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Charlie button up shirt pattern is available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/charlie/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">HERE</a> (Affiliate link)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is a quick overview of the steps I took to modify the pattern to turn it into Ash's, I changed the order in which I followed the steps so I could have an opportunity to hide the bias tape and created the faux pockets with the same bias tape. </div>

I am still amazed at how fast time just went by. I was so excited about my little girl starting preschool that I made her a pretty cool wardrobe so she could go to school in style pretty much every day this school year.<br />
Now, don't think I left my boy out, I made him a first day of school shirt too, up cycling a shirt my husband no longer needed, it turned out amazing!<br />
For these creations I used Made for Mermaids patterns' <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/katelynjumper/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">Katelyn Jumper</a> , <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/charlie/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">Charlie Button Up Shirt</a> and <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/riley/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">Riley Peplum Top</a> and they turned out very school code friendly.<br />

For this look, I used Brownie Goose's Allie Oop top, perfect for this fabric and to wear with leggins, jeans and shorts.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I couldn't consider my mission complete without a custom shirt, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to create this shirt with heat transfer vinyl, it says "Hello Preschool" and I paired it with a <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/product/samantha/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">Samantha Skirt</a> (modified) by made for Mermaids patterns. The combination of these Riley Blake fabrics, Bethany Lane buttons and shirt is just amazing, and of course little miss J had to add some glasses to look studious, this girl is too much!</div>

Well, can you tell I'm excited? I am extremely happy to have been selected to collaborate with Springs Creative fabrics as a Brand Ambassador. As a creative person there's nothing more rewarding than being given the opportunity to well, create. I will have the opportunity to work with different fabrics and create different looks or projects, how fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My first project was a series of looks made with Mary Fons' newly released line called Small Wonders, which features designs that reflect different parts of the world, being from South America, I chose the lively Brazil Collection.</div>

This collection features a variety of vibrant colors that worked perfectly for my little girl's wardrobe. First, I used Little Lizzard King's Hoya pattern, a perfect button down dress that could easily be layered with a shirt underneath to extend its life during the cooler months. It also features perfectly sized pockets for all the little treasures my daughter likes to collect in our outings and a lovely bow belt. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes, you heard it, I made totes! I have to admit I mostly enjoy sewing apparel but every now and then I see a project that makes me feel like trying something new. I ran into the Railroad Tote from Purl Soho on Instagram and couldn't resist making one, well really two. Since my lovely grandma is visiting from Peru, I couldn't help to use her as a model for my newly completed projects and she was cool with it, so here they go.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Did I mention she is 85 years young? I think she looks amazing and she is just so full of joy and energy, totally contagious!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The only thing I changed from the original instructions was making them both lined and I can say I love the result! I used a light canvas fabric from Sarah Jane's Sommer collection for Michael Miller fabrics lined with coordinating quilting cotton from the same line. For my second one I used some fabulous Wove it or Weave it by Michael Miller fabrics and since this line has a heavier weight it worked out perfect for the outside as well as for the lining.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, today is an exciting day! The Mermaid tail pattern by <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/" target="_blank">Made for Mermaids</a> is being featured at fabric.com and I couldn't be happier. Megan, designer and fashion guru at Made for Mermaids allowed me to use her mermaid blanket pattern for a fun tutorial that includes a lined blanket, perfect for those times when you want to use quilting cotton (check out Michael Miller's fairy frost!)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWV4LRro9Ik73VOMqLMTZw48EqOrxAfcekn7jiwWHm8NLLUuBQ4Cte8KOHXP-Jhci8kYn-LZHzxzv_reWrY4dNciQnbjjQaAfYp361m9TLlLyg66HgcEASPcqOjYF8c6HeWzdVNQtxkEic/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="439" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWV4LRro9Ik73VOMqLMTZw48EqOrxAfcekn7jiwWHm8NLLUuBQ4Cte8KOHXP-Jhci8kYn-LZHzxzv_reWrY4dNciQnbjjQaAfYp361m9TLlLyg66HgcEASPcqOjYF8c6HeWzdVNQtxkEic/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The tutorial for a lined blanket is featured in fabric.com's website <a href="https://www.fabric.com/creativity-headquarters-mermaid-tail-blanket-tutorial.aspx?cm_re=Feature4-_-project-_-7.12.16" target="_blank">HERE</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For the original tutorial, go to Made for Mermaids website <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/mermaidtail/" target="_blank">HERE</a><br />
<br />
For The Made for Mermaids pattern group on Facebook, follow the link <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/M4Mpatterns/" target="_blank">HERE</a>, the group is full of information, support, contests and freebies for all Made for Mermaids fans!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And, if you need a video tutorial on how to create the original blanket, Megan has created a video just for you! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/S8dr16ETV6w/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/S8dr16ETV6w?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a really fun project, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Many thanks to Megan for allowing me (and fabric.com) to share her pattern and also for taking fabulous photos of my girl and hers together, they are the cutest little mermaids!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

So, this is where it all happens! I finally decided to quick my children out of the game room we have on the second floor and took it over with all my sewing treasures, I never realized how much stuff I had until it finally happened. I am beyond pleased with having a dedicated space, hardwood floors make it so much easier to clean up after I'm finished and all the light I get during the day is just lovely. The only downside is that it gets hot, I mean, I call my sewing area the sweat shop during the Texas summer for a reason, but the ceiling fan sure helps. So here is my photo overload because I am really super happy with the space. Enjoy!</div>

I really hope your days are going as great as mine, at least in Texas warm weather lasts a while, so this is the time of the year I sew the most, and this time I used Michael Miller fabrics Tweet la Vie collection to create a batch of awesomeness!<br />
This fabulous collection includes a couple of prints with metallic effects and coordinating soft prints that create beautiful and feminine looks.<br />
First on the cutting table was a Norah dress by Mouse House creations (<a href="http://www.welcometothemousehouse.com/product/norah-dress-and-tunic" target="_blank">Link to Pattern HERE</a>). Have I mentioned this is the first PDF pattern I completed? The collar and A line cut are vintage perfection!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx3FKvNC0ujlbhmsuOxJFkQzVM1sYWUMgZKrtjqgTNPeQ2uH58PP8rCRSPCZ7rZdotNzlwYgdRuMpSKonOSiU2YN5YrNWMI1JfPWgY-jMn6E_XSGPBMSDPOFmg2a1osg4kugUeoeNQZ6Pu/s1600/IMG_6337.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx3FKvNC0ujlbhmsuOxJFkQzVM1sYWUMgZKrtjqgTNPeQ2uH58PP8rCRSPCZ7rZdotNzlwYgdRuMpSKonOSiU2YN5YrNWMI1JfPWgY-jMn6E_XSGPBMSDPOFmg2a1osg4kugUeoeNQZ6Pu/s640/IMG_6337.jpg" width="598" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I got invited to test Violette Field Threads Mila dress and romper pattern (Pattern <a href="http://violettefieldthreads.com/products/mila-dress-and-romper" target="_blank">HERE</a>) and couldn't think of a better collection for the looks the pattern offers, a beautiful romper or dress.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSuw5gY-9Ld1G7J9IUki1NwAU8oTxvljMsuDvFGgw1q6RhRaXNb5STKmeA-lsGIbKlrAHiTOFt8NoyH3L81V7iTvG3rjxc6iTSWFRwHdOc2YTGxzFb8v2b-eCR298ekJdOkuAsfMNevhpv/s1600/IMG_7348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSuw5gY-9Ld1G7J9IUki1NwAU8oTxvljMsuDvFGgw1q6RhRaXNb5STKmeA-lsGIbKlrAHiTOFt8NoyH3L81V7iTvG3rjxc6iTSWFRwHdOc2YTGxzFb8v2b-eCR298ekJdOkuAsfMNevhpv/s640/IMG_7348.jpg" width="481" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The cherry on top was Made for Mermaids Quinn pattern, the perfect opportunity to use the last bit of this collection that I had left and using my ruffler foot for the A-Line tunic option, adding the included side pocket pattern piece for detail. The look was just precious! Did I mention this pattern has a mama version too? Both patterns are available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">HERE</a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Hi there!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With summer upon us, I started getting more than inspired to create beautiful outfits for my little girl, and the perfect wardrobe needs the perfect fabric right? I was lucky enough to receive the Bed of Roses collection from Michael Miller fabrics, and I got inspired enough to create even something for me! Now that is rare, I mostly sew for the little ones so a fabric line that inspires me to sew for myself must be special.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqNXd4_6xBrQ3hGi6WNYn7Z0wVQEeeDDr1fLwffWtc7vV0EM275kXgOhrUcSymHL_uI8cZ7LaZhsmasddtwX6g94e5YSu27jzvq3iluyyde1by1Pe66DHxaa1xM4dwi2LP5uHEGyWMwOK1/s1600/BoRCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqNXd4_6xBrQ3hGi6WNYn7Z0wVQEeeDDr1fLwffWtc7vV0EM275kXgOhrUcSymHL_uI8cZ7LaZhsmasddtwX6g94e5YSu27jzvq3iluyyde1by1Pe66DHxaa1xM4dwi2LP5uHEGyWMwOK1/s640/BoRCollage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first self-drafted this dress, another first for me and was extremely happy with the result.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglAcMMxZMzzDW65lxw5jt_86SG9X7BNkwvEUwFBNKhboDUwrs87smbdx8llSyC-AMAwc6lFEETzyjwV1m5uQHodk6ly5NUGQA76BZ0EJ_gMuZChIuAvBoXh6vX-bhZS0mZojPY9bvfghIa/s1600/IMG_6802-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglAcMMxZMzzDW65lxw5jt_86SG9X7BNkwvEUwFBNKhboDUwrs87smbdx8llSyC-AMAwc6lFEETzyjwV1m5uQHodk6ly5NUGQA76BZ0EJ_gMuZChIuAvBoXh6vX-bhZS0mZojPY9bvfghIa/s640/IMG_6802-2.jpg" width="582" /></a></div>
<br />
Second, I made Brownie Goose's Junie dress, a summer must have! A very quick sew with a elastic waist.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheOob8pfMQ9laokjBEaDZG9g9C9loUHxdpjAmz9d_UgbsbCbHnKrKEf7po8XqJLyWD2SmVD9yQYcIlDTTtryLVaor-Tq0o5-ET45OtcFRCGaNQduU2pr6V1IfAZ_uOtD2a2HjC6gwQ9a_m/s1600/IMG_8242.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheOob8pfMQ9laokjBEaDZG9g9C9loUHxdpjAmz9d_UgbsbCbHnKrKEf7po8XqJLyWD2SmVD9yQYcIlDTTtryLVaor-Tq0o5-ET45OtcFRCGaNQduU2pr6V1IfAZ_uOtD2a2HjC6gwQ9a_m/s640/IMG_8242.jpg" width="434" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And last, but not least, I made Julia and I matching tops using the newly released Made for Mermaids Quinn top for girls and Mama Quinn top for ladies, using the beautiful border print that is part of the collection and coordinating floral for my little one. Both patterns can be found <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/?affiliates=7504" target="_blank">HERE</a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I Hope you enjoy this fabric collection as much as I do! The Bed of Roses collection is available at many retailers nationwide!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am just so happy to announce that Made for Mermaids patterns has just released their Quinn pattern in girls and women's version, isn't that amazing? Mommy and Me looks anyone? I hardly ever sew for myself so I was quick to jump in and made miss Julia and I matching looks using Michael Miller Fabrics <i>Bed of Roses Collection</i>, I can honestly say I love how they turned out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwaEf3_TcuL6JuC0ofGaAS9ZrFkQNU_EE_lFZa7Ft0Ymd4ADo00A1wmev6qEytJCbtOrZz2-be1IaUQQLAWmptLAV3TSHNyA1M9GlTRQNeaMZEZp11rT1svQPE3DIeRngYHoJhx_F455Ju/s1600/collage-2-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwaEf3_TcuL6JuC0ofGaAS9ZrFkQNU_EE_lFZa7Ft0Ymd4ADo00A1wmev6qEytJCbtOrZz2-be1IaUQQLAWmptLAV3TSHNyA1M9GlTRQNeaMZEZp11rT1svQPE3DIeRngYHoJhx_F455Ju/s640/collage-2-2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The girl's pattern includes top, tunic and dress versions, I made 3! First, a wonderful ruffled A-line tunic; Second, a top that matched the Mama version of mine and Third, a maxi dress using Art Gallery Fabrics' <i>Pat Bravo Essentials</i>, all the looks are just so special!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The A-line tunic version has a shorter bodice and it includes the options of elastic casing or shirring in the back, tie in straps and single or double ruffles ( I used my ruffler foot for the ruffles yay!) For this look I used Michael Miller Fabrics Tweet la Vie, a beautiful collection of soft colors full of femininity.</div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The top version has a shorter bodice as well and a gathered skirt that could easily be embelished with lace or rick rack trims, as you can see I chose a beautiful lace from my local Hobby Lobby and Michael Miller fabrics' <i>Bed of Roses Collection</i>.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For my third version I tried a maxi dress with pockets (yes, I have a little hoarder who goes around collecting things). This version has a longer bodice and two more rows of elastic casing or shirring in the back, adorable right?</div>

Hello there!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Are you feeling like summer is upon us? I have the feeling it will be here before I know it so I started getting ready for it, planning some of our little adventures to the zoo, museums and of course, the pool. With my kids getting older and bigger day by day, I assume they should be able to carry their own things, so I made them drawstring backpacks, a super easy project. I will share with you how I put it together. The fabulous fabric is very appropriately called "School's Out" by Michael Miller Fabrics.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiipIGeI2XE8nX8LtsLk5vbcsu94CeC08leg36z1y9ZlH71F451U46MJWT_Z2rsq92YHUUFBzL7qV-YaXTXroY8o7cOffbLmT_K-wL-ox6lAWS4RtAU8P_0ALED_aRjXEx0uMEupP-EB9s/s1600/IMG_7573.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiipIGeI2XE8nX8LtsLk5vbcsu94CeC08leg36z1y9ZlH71F451U46MJWT_Z2rsq92YHUUFBzL7qV-YaXTXroY8o7cOffbLmT_K-wL-ox6lAWS4RtAU8P_0ALED_aRjXEx0uMEupP-EB9s/s640/IMG_7573.jpg" width="432" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
You will need:<br />
1/2 yard of fabric<br />
Twill tape or cording<br />
Eyelet plier kit and eyelets<br />
Interfacing<br />
Basic sewing supplies and sewing machine.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Step 1</u></b><br />
Cut 2 pieces of fabric 14" wide by 18" long. Cut an interfacing square, roughly 3" x 3" and cut in two, diagonally, forming two triangles. Iron each triangle to the bottom of one of the fabric pieces.<br />
<b><u>Step 2</u></b><br />
Use your serger or a zig zag stitch to sew around all edges of each fabric piece.<br />
<u><b>Step 3</b></u><br />
Pin the two fabric pieces, right sides together, leaving 2" at the top on each side, so you will start sewing 2" from the top and around the bag, stopping 2" before the top on the other side. Use a 3/8" seam allowance. Iron seams open and turn right side out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u>Step 4</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Starting at the top, sew towards the bottom, catching the seam under. Stop 1/4" after the opening, lift your presser foot an turn, lower your presser foot and sew across, stop and turn sewing towards the top, catching the serged seam under.</div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<u><b>Step 5</b></u><br />
Turn Inside out and iron the top down 1". Sew along the bottom with a 1/4" seam allowance. Repeat on other side. Turn right side out and press, making sure bottom corners are neat. Your bag is almost ready!<br />

<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<b><u>Step 6</u></b><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJHbcOZ07Jt8zNgL9n0CRjipw8G-0AaufWhY1eLtQcgIBeB2ST9SGI7UT8jbgHauPdJ3lW4wIY6wXOxojlxEyA83dmTcYCBp47-RpZpXOD6z8rUirTOT2ifY4yXldebYO4j8AksyaOUPd/s1600/IMG_7431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJHbcOZ07Jt8zNgL9n0CRjipw8G-0AaufWhY1eLtQcgIBeB2ST9SGI7UT8jbgHauPdJ3lW4wIY6wXOxojlxEyA83dmTcYCBp47-RpZpXOD6z8rUirTOT2ifY4yXldebYO4j8AksyaOUPd/s320/IMG_7431.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Use your ruler and chalk or disappearing ink marker to make a diagonal line along the bottom corner. Sew along the marked line. Repeat on other side. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNsVKay1DF_egrTgMHuAnsLCZLugjocZS4E1parFnu3s7bt08f3LIqxAUIewfoyiDN9hFYcJx9q2o32grmwIrEVx6wu5DwgZ2qZmostvldWKHjnizXZA1kn6wnJXc-6bGM3Yzro_NkDuBO/s1600/IMG_7436.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNsVKay1DF_egrTgMHuAnsLCZLugjocZS4E1parFnu3s7bt08f3LIqxAUIewfoyiDN9hFYcJx9q2o32grmwIrEVx6wu5DwgZ2qZmostvldWKHjnizXZA1kn6wnJXc-6bGM3Yzro_NkDuBO/s320/IMG_7436.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can now use your pliers and make two holes, centering them inside the triangles created at the bottom corners.</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><u>Step 7</u></b><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cut your twill tape or cord to desired length. I cut 2 pieces 60" long for my little ones, but could make them longer as they grow. Use a bodkin to thread the tape through one of the openings at the top until it reaches the opposite side, then use the opening on that side to return to the original side. Repeat, staring on the opposite side. Tie the ends on a knot through the eyelets and you are done!</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I am beyond excited at not having to carry everything anymore! Now these sweet kiddos can carry their own stuff everywhere. Hope you enjoy this quick project.</div>

Hello there,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With Easter right around the corner, it almost seems perfectly appropriate to sew the perfect dress (or dresses) for the occasion. Sarah Jane is holding an Easter Dress Sewing Challenge over at her blog and I couldn't help but join the challenge. I am a big fan of the collection, so I had enough fabric to make two dresses that will be worn well beyond Easter. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The first one was made using Made for Mermaids Harper pattern (available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/?affiliates=7504">HERE</a> ) and the second using The Cottage Mama's Janey Jumper with a modification shown on <a href="http://thecottagemama.com/2016/02/janey-jumper-scallop-tutorial/">THIS</a> tutorial. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Overall I am extremely happy with the results, and so is my little one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There is still time to join the challenge, it ends March 31st. Use hashtag #sommerdresschallenge on Instagram and tag @SarahJaneStudios when you enter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Good Luck!</div>

Hello!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With beautiful weather in sight and the perfect time for photographs fast approaching, I was fortunate enough to test Made for Mermaids newest pattern: Juliette. The first pattern of the Dreamy Collection is nothing shy of fabulous. It is easy enough for a beginner if you decide to go for the simple version, and it can also be made in a top length. I decided to try two versions, not too dreamy but comfortable enough for my active 3 year old princess. If you are wondering, How much would it cost to achieve this Dreamy look? I made two versions, so you get an idea:<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>VERSION 1</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Fabric</b>:</u> $9.99</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Knit from Joann's (a cotton/poly blend) @ $9.99/yard. I needed 1 yard for the short dress version.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><b>Trim</b></u>: $3.00</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used trim bought by the roll from Hobby Lobby @3.99/roll, on sale 50%off, so about $2.00 per roll, and I used about 1.5 rolls.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u style="background-color: yellow;">GRAND TOTAL: $ 12.99</u><br />
<u style="background-color: yellow;"><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Fabric</u>:</b> $ 12.97/yard plus $4.00 shipping = $16.97</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used Riley Blake Dream and Wish Knit from Mama made and beautiful (I like to support mama owned businesses)<br />
<u><b>Trim</b></u>: 4 yards @ $2.99/yard = 11.96 I used a coupon for 50% off. New Price: $5.97</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">From both versions, I liked version 2 the best, the knit was a lot better quality and had better recovery. However, I liked the trim from Hobby Lobby a bit better, it was wider and just better quality. I have washed both dresses and they did just fine. They were washed inside a lingerie bag on delicate cycle. So these dresses are not only Dreamy, but they last too!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Now to the most important part: Where can I get this Dreamy pattern? Here's the link for Made for Mermaids site, where this and many more adorable patterns are sold: </span><br />

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do!</div>

This mama is back at creating for the ones I love most, and I couldn't have been luckier to have the opportunity to test not one but two Made for Mermaids patterns: The Harper Dress and Top and the Charlie Button Up Shirt. Both patterns are a confident beginner to intermediate level.<br />
They both feature pin tucks, however, the Harper dress can be made without. I was beyond pleased to finally be able to sew for my little man too!<br />
The Harper has so many options such as: Flutter, Long and Short Sleeves. Top Length and Dress length and an option to add pin tucks or not. The Collar is also optional, so there is plenty of room to get creative.<br />
The Charlie has all the details of a man's shirt, plus pin tucks and short and long sleeve options.<br />
Made for Mermaids patterns are offered in PDF format with color picture step by step tutorials and layered pattern pieces to avoid waste. They are at the top of my list for Go-To patterns.<br />
<br />
Both patterns are available <a href="http://www.madeformermaids.com/?affiliates=7504">HERE</a><br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! There is still time to sew matching Easter outfits for your favorite boys and girls.<br />
